I bought 3 little "feeder" goldfish for my pond yesterday. They are each just under an inch long. Comet/common hybrids I think.
What do you guys suggest I feed them? I have NLS sinking but I don't have a pond-specific food and I've read the babies do better with flakes.
I feed TetraGoldfish flakes. I tried some of the more expensive pellets and they were rejected out of hand. Goldfish love duckweed. I feed that too. I also have stocked their pond with anacharis, which they also seem to enjoy.
I would stay away from flakes because they promote surface gulping which will eventually lead to swim bladder problems. I recommend soilent green or omega onesinking pellets, hikari (sinking pellets), or nls sinking pellets. Only use sinking pellets to prevent future issues. Personally my baby goldfish like Omega One pellets. Make sure to give them their greens too though once in a while.
I'm looking into soilent green since you guys have recommended it. Sounds amazing. Looks like bettas can have it too. How about as a treat for a lake malawi cichlid?
Ummmm I don't know much about cichlids, but it's probably fine because it is literally bugs and plant made into food so it's fine once in a while.
BTW it stinks when you make it
