Best algae eater for planted Angel tank?

Hello I've Re-Scaped my 55 gallon planted tank and would like to try to get a clean up crew. I have 6 Scissor tails and a Breeding pair of Angelfish. What would be a good algae eater for the tank considering angels eat pretty much anything under an inch. I Personally wanted to put 3-4 Otto cats in the tank but, I read they can't be put into a tank with angels cause they can also eat them, but i'm unsure if this is true. If anyone has any suggestions as to what would be a good choice please let me know as I would love to keep the plants and hardscape cleaner

In my experience the best algae eater is actually the nerite snail. Do you think your angels would try to eat them?

Angelfish eating other fish isn’t a given. I have angels and ottos together with no problems. Yes snails are safe too. Cory cats will eat all leftover food that makes it to the bottom.

I'd say otos or nerite snails. Plecos are lazy and add a big bioload. Although I do love my BN plecos

I would go for a few SAEs, they grow 5-6 inches and are really good looking as well as fantastic algae eaters throughout their entire life.

If it was me, I'd reccomend twig/farowella catfish. Some are omnivorous leaning slightly towards herbivorous - and they pretty interesting fish to look at!

Agreed, theyre fun fish and many feed mainly on soft algae. They won't clean small plants too easily, but appreciate tall strong plants. The sturisoma group is hardier, and the farlowella group is more delicate (I have two of this group).

Given driftwood and places to hide behind, theyre a good option. Just do as much reading as you can if you choose the farlowella group

Otherwise, if its small plants or hard algae... nerite snails are pretty dang good at eating algae. My tank in my bedroom that sits in direct sunlight 4 hours of the day is kept spotless by the single nerite.

I appreciate all the feedback, my first choice was otto's but was worried they would be eaten by the angels. currently with the new re-scape i'm not having any real algae issues but for the past 2 years with the old scape I was constantly battling diatoms. No idea as to why? I keep up with weekly water changes, have Fluval Aquasky 2.0 with red, green and white intensity set to 100% but blue set too 50%. running at 8 hours a day. Also a pressurized Co2 system diffusing roughly 8-10bbps to get the ph checker lime green. like I said I have no idea as to what the issue actually is but I am very grateful for all the suggestions!

My angels have never bothered ottos. The best algae eaters in my experience would be Nerite snails and amino shrimp.
