krusty & monty.jpg Best Of Mates...This is Monty...sorry getting used to threads and uploading photos hence the 3 new threads...lol???

But now all is good, this is my brand new tank at home will post more pics when have more time, at work concentrating on the tanks here, all is good water changes are making a difference, Thanks Jeff for the ammonium and ammonia info i understand now, for instance tank 7 day before yesterday was 6.0 ph, temp 27 degrees, ammonia 8.0, nitrate 20 and 0 nitrite. So with ph being low its actually ammonium, so no fish deaths...Today after adding aquarium salt yesterday, ph 6.4, temp 27, ammonia 2.0, nitrate 0 and nitrite 0ppm....I consider this good, and will keep check...Tank contains clown loaches and hockey sticks with one orange gourami...

Don't worry about it, I still don't get all of the thread stuff. 75% of my pics will not load and still can't get a video to post.

But I love your fish!

Good morning,

You'll get the hang of posting photos and videos as you practice. Don't worry about it, I've deleted your duplicate posts for you

Here are two links on posting videos:

https://www.fishlore.com/aquariumfishforum/threads/add-a-youtube-video-to-my-profile-page.22864/

If you upload and still get a blank screen then your file is too large and has to be resized. I use the link below to resize my photos:
http://www.picresize.com/

I see that you have not completed the cycle in your tank. With you pH being below 7.0 it may take longer to cycle. You are correct stating that the ammonia turns to ammonium when the pH level is below 7.0. However ammonium is still harmful to your fish although not as harmful as ammonia.

I would consider adding some crushed coral in a mesh bag to increase your pH levels. Place it in your tank or filter if you have room. Please avoid using chemicals to alter your pH as they are unstable and can lead to a pH crash resulting in fish loss.

Daily water changes are needed to keep your fish safe. Add some Prime or Amquel + to detox the ammonia/ammonium for 24 hours until it's time for the next water change. Keep up with the daily changes until you have 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites and under 20 nitrates.

You have some beautiful fish Whiskey! Thanks for sharing the photos.

perfectly said...... and I too want to stress how important IT IS TO NOT USE CHEMICALS TO ALTER YOUR WATER. they alter the water parameters rapidly and make the water unstable.

Thanks Fred, hope you get some pics up soon id love to see what a Crawdad & weather loach look like....keep trying...xx
I'm thinking my video posting not working is my cell phone is crappy. I think I'll try bringing my work camera home sometime. Want to show a video of my crayfish eating snails, it’s just about the coolest thing ever. Especial if I could get audio. You actually can hear the crawdad cracking the shells open.

Here's pic of a weather loach (dojo loach). They found out that they can predict when it's going to rain. So they started calling them weather loaches this one is an albino, not mine. They do a pretty good job at controlling snail pop too, which is why I got one.

salt

Nice pic. I suggest to stop using salt, it doesn't mix well with scaleless fish.
Thanks Jeta, taken on board as i have overlooked that very thing. Day off today and have left instructions for co-worker to do some water changes today....fulltime job man hardly get out into the nursery anymore lol....

Thanks Aquarist48...Have managed to get three tanks with those exact results, so im pretty happy about that...It has been mentioned to me not to or stop rather, using chemicals just water changes will be suffice...sometimes i find myself just standing in front of a particular tank and get lost in watching the fish in it...they cant tell me whats going on in the tank so i have to do my best for them, prob sounds a bit nutty but yeh its up to me to keep them happy so i will get it right. I will try the crushed coral, does quartz have a good affect in aquariums ?
