Bell siphon for aquariums

Is there any pre-built or DIY-designed bell siphon for aquariums? I think this device can save us quite a few hours changing water in our aquariums .

I think it wouldn't be too difficult to accomplish, provided you can find supplies to make the "bell" in the aquarium. Would think a decent sized tupperware or rubbermaid container upside down could at least be the top part of the bell. Maybe a couple hoses like on a gravel vac as well. Not sure about that inner part.

Interesting idea, only drawback I see is that it will still need drilling on the aquarium to allow the hose to drain out

I can definitely see a use for it to allow consistent draining, ie if you want to always drain 50%.

On the otherhand, a U hose with a valve can achieve the same thing without any drilling. So I think that's why it's not very common
