I’m fairly new to the hobby, but I woke up to this, black spots on this anubias? I think it’s a anubias, but not sure. I’ve come to two conclusions, it’s either to much light or some kind of algae. Or none of those that’s why I made an account and posting. What do you think? Should I do the 19/1 or reduce light? I have the seachem starter kit, do I need another chemical for this?

The light I'm sure is not hurting it. I'm not too sure what size your tank is but you would have to have a major one to cause damage.
Have you been adding any ferts to the water? Also if the tank is new, could be a nitrogen deficiency.
Anubias have a large rhizome or root that sticks to what it grows next to or on. Similar to a vine

Are you sure it's not gravel pieces? It kind of looks like it.

Hi, welcome to the forum! What you have there is some species of Buce plant. From the looks of the picture it looks like your substrate has gotten on the plant and that's what the black spots are, but it could just be the picture. If your plant is blackening and it's not substrate, then it could be a nutrients deficiency, and you'll have to does with liquid ferts.

It could be gravel! I never thought of that. I was just worried, because I know failing is inevitable in this hobby, but it matters what you learn from your failure. I have the fluval 5 gallon v.

It happens to the best of us The other day I went into a panic thinking my java moss had a terrible disease, but it was just sand I had accidntally siphoned onto it.

I have thought that my betta had ich before, but in reality it's just the coloration of his fins. That one made me feel real dumb because I had posted on here in a panic trying to see if was ich

It's okay I've done it before too glad it wasn't anything bad!

This is a Betta tank and he is a big weirdo, he likes to rub himself all over the new plants I put in last Thursday...

Here is last Thursday’s transformation.

My sword plant just about died, but it has a few baby leafs on it since the change so I’m happy
