Beamswork Ea Issue - Looks Pink

I recently purchased the BeamsWork EA Timer FSPEC LED Aquarium Light Freshwwater Plant Extendable light from amazon. I get it today and I turn it on and this is what my tank looks like...

Does anyone know if there is a way to fix it or should I just call it a day and return it? If so anyone know a light that would be good, not too expensive and NOT have lights that can’t blend and look like this??

I thought it was great because it was bigger than expected and would be perfect when I upgraded this to a 20 long in the coming month, but this lack of light blending just ruins it!

Well, that's a shame!
I wondered why I was seeing pink and blue sand.
You could return it and get a different light. I use Finnex Stingray, that might be a bit pricey, but they work like a charm.

Yeah that’s too much money. This was only $30 so I thought it would be a good deal but it was a fail haha.

How many gallons is your tank?

That’s a 10 but soon will be a 20 long.

There are about 50 different models of EA. You got the one with white, red, blue and green LEDs. Exchange it for the one with only white and blue.

I had a light that had only white and blue (but it was made for marine tanks and was 10000k) and was told it was causing algae growth so I returned it and got this one. And that red would help grow plants. So that person was incorrect then?

If you're growing low tech plants, the link I posted will be fine. If you want a medium to high tech in a 20 long, the Beamswork DA series would be a better choice for only a few bucks more.

Thanks for the links!
What’s the difference between that one with only white and blue vs the DA version with the red and green as well?

I couldn't find a straight answer. I did get one with the white, blue, red and green and had the same issue as you with the weird colors showing up in the tank and I had black substrate. I only use white and blue lights now. Just look for the color temperature (6500k) and it will grow plants pretty well. The lumens will let you know how bright the light is.

I have a DA on my 40 gallon breeder that's heavily planted and a EA on a 20 gallon that's moderately planted but with low light plants. The DA is about 3x brighter than the EA lights.

I do have some ammania gracilis in that tank which is more of a high light plant, but I think the rest are all fine as low light. I really didn't want to spend any more money than what I already did haha. Gah I should've known the price was too good to be true! But TBH I am thinking when I upgrade to the 20 long I will probably just have mostly java fern in the tank. I really like the look of the trident version.

I have the (90cm) 36" version of this Beamswork. I've successfully grown Amazon swords and various Anubias under it without issues, however, it likely won't be suitable for more demanding plants. This is the blue & white LED and gives off an even, slightly warm tone.

EDit: I remember now that another member previously purchased the version of this LED with the red and green LEDs mixed in and received a look similar to the one in your tank, and was dissatisfied.

it's weird how this happens to some tanks and not to others. I have the exact same light and I don't notice this (to such an extent -- I can tell when my fish is under a certain coloured light when he's near the surface). I have read and seen reviews where it does happen with the shallower tanks. I have the 18" for a 10 gallon but it's the same depth of a 20gl. maybe it's less apparent because I have black sand.

not sure what to suggest as a replacement. just the blue and white 6500k lights could work, as others said. the fspec are in the 10000k spectrum anyway. nicrew lights are also inexpensive, but more expensive than beamswork.

This is the one that I had, which people said were causing algae issues:

I wonder if it's because it was 10000k. So I got this beamswork and you all see how well it works haha.

I will have to take a look at the ones posted above again! For my other 20 I have a Current USA light which I love, but it's too much money to get a second one.

I forgot to give the link - again, this is the one I have:

Apparently it's 6500k.

I have a pair of 48" ET's in my 60" tank and they have been great. No issues with plant growth, it does grow some algae to keep the Oto's happy.

If you are all in agreement that only white and blue lights will be fine as long as it's 6500k I will be ordering one tonight!
Thank you all!

I don't have anything right now but white and blue 6500k lights running right now. When I get my 125 refurbished I have a 72" DA FSPEC waiting to see how it does.

I ended up going with this one:

The first one that DarkOne posted!
they have a ton of options, but in reality if I just want basic low light plants in the tank it should be fine! And if the Ammania gracilis doesn't do well, oh well. It was only a couple of dollars! (I had some in a 5.5 that was doing amazon until it got covered in Diatom algae and now going on 2 months it won't die off the poor plant! )

wrs2, I have the exact same Beamswork 48" model you originally purchased. It is on a 75 gallon tank to supplement a Marineland 36" Advanced LED strip light.

I had the weird colors showing up on my substrate also. I got tired of it after a week and used pieces of blue painters tape to cover the area of the green and red LED's. Problem solved.

I should have returned it like you did for the other model that only has white and blue LED's.

I also bought the Beamswork timer. It works great!

Having it and the Marineland both on timers for the white and blue LEDs. Each color on each light strip comes on at different times, giving it a nice staggered effect.
