I'm happy with mine. I have 2 of them. What size is your tank?

I have a 36 bow front. Substrate is 19 inches from top rim.

My 55 gallon is 21" tall and I keep the light on for about 5hrs. In my 10 gallon tank, I had to use a diffuser to block some light from entering the tank to prevent algae.

If you want to look at photos of the lights, I have them in my 55 gallon build thread. See link in my signature.

What size did you go with? The 30 inch? Is your tank planted? How are the plants doing?

I have 6 on 6 40 gallons, it seems to be a well built light but I don't think it real good for live plants.

And I need something that will work for plants. My tank used to get natural daylight so light was never a problem. Now its in the basement. So plants aren't doing so hot

I got the 30" lights. The tank is moderately planted and the plants are doing quite well.

What kind of issues are you having with your plants? I find the light to be pretty good for my plants. As a matter of fact, I had to block some of the light from entering my small tank because it was too strong and creating algae. But I'm looking into building a new tank and always looking for more lighting options. Let me know which light worked for you.

I have the same experience. I'm lightly planted. I have the 48" light for the 55 gallon and plants are doing decently well.

The large tank is the DA Fpec. The small tank is a different light

Large tank is DA FSPEC. For the smaller tank, the top one is a small Nicrew. The bottom tank is the DA FSPEC that's giving me algae issues

DA FSPEC diffused on the bottom. Even when diffused, it's still brighter than the Nicrew on top

I have the Beamswork DA fspec on my tank. Works very well. Don’t get the EA, they don’t have enough light. I had to replace it with the DA. No complaints at all.

Thank you all for sharing your experience. I trust you way more than Amazon reviews. It sounds like this is what I'm looking for. Now to convince the wife to let me get it.

The Beamswork DHL 6500k may be better suited for plants.

Edit to add: Also check between Amazon and eBay. I have found TopDogSeller's prices can sometimes can between the two.

Another well priced brand is the Chihiros A series. I just got one for my 10g. It was recommended to me by a very well respected member with great plants. So I do trust her recommendation. I found them on eBay. Try to find a dealer not in Asia for quicker shipping. I am waiting on my glass lid to arrive to install on the tank.

I actually found that not to be true. It doesn’t light well into a deep tank. The 10000K has been much better. The depth of the tank makes a huge difference in how much lighting you need. I wouldn’t recommend the EA to anyone for plant growing. The DA though, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

I bought my beamsworks used, I don't think there a plant light, I think beamswork makes a plant light that's different than mine. I use Fluval 2.0 plant lights for my planted tanks.

I looked at fluval and finnex ones but they are more than I want to pay. I just happen to come across the beamsworks while researching a diy led flood light after seeing it on king of diy. Its more in my price range so I figured I see if anyone else uses them.

Do you know which model you have by any chance? The colors look more warmer than the DA Fspec model.
Those pictures are the Fluval 2.0 lights, the beamsworks are much whiter.

You didn't have good luck with the DHL or the EA? A 48" DHL is pushing 60 PAR at 20". Here is a good comparison between the DHL and the DA FSPEC:

I did not have good results with the 30” Beamswork EA, 6500k lights. It was on my 29 gallon tank. My plants were definitely not doing well at all. I ended up throwing on a cheap T-8 fluorescent with a reflector to boost the lighting. I knew I was upgrading to a 55g, so didn’t want to purchase another light for that tank. I currently have the 48” Beamswork DA FSpec 10,000K on the 55g, and I have plenty of light. In fact I am having to boost my ferts to compensate for the upgraded lighting.

That's a loaded question. View that thread. Tons of photos for you to look at. Tons of PAR data as well. Way too technical for me.

It comes down to whether you like a warmer color or cooler color in my opinion.

That makes sense - I don't think that is a plant light but more of a general aquarium light.

Confusing, isn't it? Are you looking at the DA or DA FSPEC? Between the DHL and either, the DHL will be brighter. The 72" DA is rated 8000 lumen and the DHL is 9500. DHL uses 1W LED and the DA uses .5W LED. The link I posted also shows the DHL is higher PAR - though it isn't a massive difference nor does it mean the DA will not grow plants well.

I currently have a pair of DHL 72" on my 125g tank and they have been great (take a look in Tank Builds for pics). If one were to fail I'd consider trying a DA or DA FSPEC.

One note: The timer they sell lets you control the white and blue lights separately in case you want do a dusk thing. It does NOT allow you to do a siesta (on 4, off 4 on 4, off 12) which you may want if you grow plants. If so skip it and get a hardware store digital timer instead.

The fspec. I seen it had high watt lights but half as many. The fspec has a few red and green lights on it tho. I know the red is supposedly suppose to help. Idk about the green. But that all could be a gimmick too. I do know the dhl is 15 bucks cheaper. Basically it all comes back to the colored lights and if They actually help.

Did you pull trigger already? I think either will grow plants for you. Go with what you want most - I don’t think either choice is wrong.

I think green is just there to balance out the red for viewing purposes. It doesn't actually do much.

Wow, that's really really yellow. Do you have lots of tannins leaching in your water by any chance?

Yeah it's tannins from the drift wood. The substrate gives it more of a yellow color as well
