Battered looking hillstream loach

Help! I have 2 new hillstream loaches I ordered online and one of them looks very beat up even though he is clearly the alpha of the two. I tried to copy and paste the emergency template but I’m on a phone so it did not work so here’s what I remember from it..
Tank-29 gallons
Filter aqua clear 50
Temp is 70F
Running since August. Planted and Cycled. Parameters 0,0,10 for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. I use prime with each water change and do about 30-35% weekly.
I have had the 2 new fish about a week. I don’t know if it came to me injured or not because they were hard to see inside the breather bag suctioned on for dear life. I planned to see how these two go and maybe get another 2 because I hear they like a group. My injured guy has been observed a few times chasing the other (not visibly injured) fish away from his corner and the other (friendlier) guy goes all over the tank on other walls and decor. I haven’t seen this one on driftwood but that’s the only thing I can imagine did this. But not really, I mean it looks like his dorsal fin is missing altogether. His other fins look ragged and scraped. So anyways I am just looking for guidance as to why this may have happened and how to help. I’ve done a water change but didn’t notice a difference in behavior or anything.

His dorsal fin does look to be in bad shape. You also want to be careful, because even in a clean tank, bacterial infections can take over very fast. Do you have any inverts? If not, here are a few things I can suggest, though not everyone agrees with them. I'll list some things and let you do some more research if you're interested:

low dose of aquarium salt (NO INVERTS, and not good for some live plants). May help to promote recovery
Some form of Stress Coat
Very clean water!

Since his behavior does not seem to be different and he has no signs of infection, rot, or fungus, I wouldn't do anything drastic.

Thanks I didn’t think of stress coat, I will add some today. I will also do another water change this evening. I have snails and a couple shrimp so I’ll make sure I don’t add anything that isn’t safe for them! Thanks for the response!

Clean water and proper parameters will usually result in a healed fish. I just recently had an incident where my betta chomped my guppies tail off. Its grown back for the most part and he's still thriving. I kept the water clean and that's all it took. If an infection occurs, then separated the fish and meds should be used.

Update
I wonder if this guy is just deformed... I have been keeping up with 30-35% weekly water changes. I used stress coat and have an IAL in there. My last WC I used prime instead of stress coat because I didn’t think it made a difference in appearance or behavior (which seems normal anyways). It’s been over a month since the pic in first post and here he is now (I cant get a good look at his dorsal fin because he’s always on the back glass but his right pectoral fin is torn and showing no improvement).

I also have a photo of the two of them together. Both were purchased online from aquahuna and I was hoping to get 2 more to finish stocking the tank...

I have been calling them Mufasa and Scar

Looks like its skin is healing nicely . Maybe healing skin is sort of a priority and the fins start growing back only when the skin is completely healed.

Thank you, that’s encouraging. It’s hard to see the progression when I am looking at the fish daily but I suppose that is true! I will keep up with the monitoring and clean water and hopefully get a couple more loach buddies in the not-so-distant future
