Wow. Haven’t updated since February. Yikes lol!
I lost Eddie Betts this spring. Sigh. I guess even bettas from a breeder have a reduced life span. He was only 2. So I’ll not get another betta.
I restocked the tiger barbs in the semi aggressive 75. I now think the losses are just poor genetics. Like the bettas, their lifespan seems to be about 2 years.
I’ve moved to every other week water changes of 50% for most of the tanks. I’ve been able to reduce fertilizer addition by 50%. Nitrates are not going over 20 ppm snd ph is remaining steady in all tanks. The exception being the semi aggressive 75 that I do about every 10 days. I’m getting more mulm on the bottom of the tank and the Fluval 406 is driving me crazy with its incessant need for a new impeller every 6 months. And the last time I changed it, it still is making noise. So I’m questioning its filtering capabilities. I have the 407 on the newest 75 and love the updated design. So I might just change to a 407 on this tank also. Fluval is a sponsor of our local aquarium society and we get discounts at the meetings. Which is tomorrow.
Anyeay, generally happy with all the tanks, fish, and plants and enjoying continuing to learn what works for me.
