Hey I was wondering if I could put some fish in my barel fountain? Its about
15" tall and 17"wide.
Are there any small fish out there that could go in there?

To go outside without heated water, with a thermostat, it would probably have to be goldfish. I have seen them in many fountains. The problem is the size. The general rule of thumb for goldfish is 20 gallons for the first goldfish and 10 gallons for each one after that. There are other coldwater freshwater fish, but most of them are quite a bit bigger than goldfish, so I do not think they would go in anything smaller.
Perhaps, someone else can come up with something, just do not let anyone tell you that a Betta can go in there. LOL
I hope I have been a little helpful.

How much would a heater be for it? Its just an idea for me I live in canada and we get cool whether so what ever I put in it would have to be ok.
Would gold fish not grow to big?
I would like 2 fish to go in it...
If I get the heater could I put guppies in it? What wuould be better show ones or the ones they sell for food(I think the later are harder..)? 66°F - 84°F (19°C - 29°C) is the temp for them right? Also what about platies? or minows?
Goldfish, Comet, Moor, Black Moor, Lionhead, Oranda, Pearl Scale, Ryukin, Panda what one would you recommend for it?
also how many galons would the barel be?
Sory for so many questions I'm just thinking this through and found I had no idea lol.

I put tubs out every summer and Dino has tubs out. For a barrel that size you could put guppys, platys or Mollys in it, it isn't big enough for goldfish. when it gets warm enough that the water stays in the 70's then you wouldn't have to have a heater. It will need shade in the hot part of the dayor floating plants. On something that small you would still have to do partial water changes.
My 25G tubs on the deck have angels, a goldfish and two plecos. The plant tub will probly have guppys in it.
You can use Gallon Milk jugs to fill the barrel and that way you can fighure out how many gallons it is. Hope that helps.

its going to go up to 22 this week. I won't put them in for a bit though. I have to get plants for it and a top so animals don't get in.
Thanks
