Bamboo Shrimp Picking

I picked up 2 bamboo shrimp for a planted 50 gallon a few days ago. Theyre doing fine it seems, but I haven't seen them doing much filter feeding, instead they usually try to pick food off the ground. The tank doesn't have extreme current, but the water isn't stagnant either. They don't look unhealthy otherwise, and all I've read says that they usually pick when they're very hungry, but I'm still concerned. Thoughts?
They usually hang out under a log for a while and poke their heads out, then come out to pick around in the evening. I just want to make sure they're okay, they're really cool and look nice climbing around.

Mine picks most of the time, too! It used to filter but I think because I have to drop finely ground food into the filter outflow for there to be anything in the water column it just learned that it was easier to forage than to wait for an opportunity to use its filters

I don't know a lot about fan feeding shrimp, but perhaps your water is simply too clean? I remember reading that they like to catch tiny particles as they flow by them in the current. You may need to grind up some food into a fine powder, soak it, and pour it into the filter's flow.

The tank definitely has some food in it, but I think ill try to grind food again, ive been doing it for the past 2 nights but haven't seen them going for it. Thanks guys ill keep you updated.

Edit/add on: put in some ground up pellets and shrimp didnt really do much, fish freaked out and ate the larger bits but there's lots of other bits (along with the usual planted tank particles etc etc) floating around so hopefully theyll start feeding regularly soon. They still look happy enough lol climbing all over the place.

These shrimp take a while to adjust to the tank, when j got my first 4 they wandered the tank for forever, after being there for a while they found a spot that has a really decent flow and then they lived there until I moved them into a new tank and then they repeated it until they found there new spot

Awesome good to hear the tank doesn't have any like jets like you see in some river styled tanks or saltwater, but it has a smallish bubble wall and the hob filter, you can definitely see the particles moving around in circular patterns, up the back and down the front. Thanks a ton! Gives me some confidents the two are okay

Like I said once they find the spot that gives them the most nutrients they'll just hang out there most of the time!
