bamboo shrimp: cause of death?

I just lost my bamboo shrimp :'( I've had him for about 4 or 5 months in a 5 g tank with 3 neons and a rubber lip pleco. The tank is cycled and was before adding him in. The water stip test showed the tank was safe. I don't have AC and it was a little toasty in my appt. Tank temp was over 86 degrees (that as far as my tank temp reads). Any, I was so bummed he died and I'm searching for answers ??? Any ideas?

I've never kept bamboo shrimp, but my guess would be either the higher temperature, or your test strips are giving you false readings, and you either have high ammonia, nitrite, or nitrate. That rubber lipped pleco is probably too much for the size of tank you have him in.

I keep bamboo shrimp. I'm guessing it was either the high temp (most likely) or just age.
