Hello, newbie here. Can balloon bellies live with black mollies or balloon bellies with guppies? Does anybody have an experience with mixing mollies or mollies with guppies or other community fish with success. Trying to figure out what fish to put in my new 20 g. Currently doing a fish less cycle!

Hello! Ballon mollies are not good pets because they have a spinal deformity that gives them the strange balloon shape. That deformity actually decreases their life span. Anywho, mollies in general have a huge bio load so if you decide to keep mollies about other fish, you can't have a lot. That being said, mollies are a little nippy so guppies may not a good choice but any school of tetra will be fine as long as they don't have long fins.

Mollies & guppies can interbreed so not a good idea to keep them together

Thank you for the advice! I guess now I'll have to make my choice on either guppies or mollies.. Maybe a good reason to buy another tank ! I'm glad I learned this before something bad would have happened
