Balloon Molly 'Bulging stomach'?

Sabi

My balloon molly seems to have got a bulge in her stomach.
Putting her into the breeder tonight I noticed that aside from the normal roundness of the belly there's a curious sort of pointed bulge at the front side. Is this due to pregnancy or is something wrong? I'm not sure this is info good enough but i'm going to try and get pics of her tommoro.
I don't have a male molly but my guppy has been mating with her so i'm hoping for fry soon! I've read there's supposed to be a black dot under the analfin,  i'v not noticed this is she not preg then?
Thanks...

Sounds like it....A dark patch at the analfin is called the gravid spot...Sounds like you're going to be a grandparent of little fry!!

I've never noticed a black spot and yet my molly was pregnant. Buuut, I think pregnant female balloon mollies don't have a 'bulge on a bulge'. Their one bulge just gets bigger.

Could you upload a picture?

Could it be a parasite? Fish fleas can appear as a bulge. I would look that up too if I were you (google it for pictures I mean)

Well I decided to check properly today and did see a small spot.
Going to try and get a pic of her now, thing is she's always moving and its hard to take a photo like that!

Yeah, I can imagine. Why can't they just swim still for a split second!

The is the best I can get for now, I had to trap her in the net aganst the glass to get a pic!

Its extremely strange... last night when I put her in the breeder she definitley the 'bulge'. Now when I went to take the photo, the stomach isn't that big and the bulg is gone!!! I can't understand it! The bulge was like a 'V' shaped thing just in front of the pelvic fin...
And the breeder doesn't have an fry, unless they can swim through the holes of the net?

By the way what exactly is the name of this b-molly?

Depends how big the holes are, but if it's a net, rather than a plastic case, I doubt it. Fry's head is about 2mm in diameter at least.

I can't really see it from the picture, but it looks like it's got a lyretail at least. Does it? The clue is in the dorsal fin: quite high, then could be velifera or latipinna (2 kinds of sailfin). If it's not high, and not elongated along the back, and if it starts just in front of the anus, then it's a common molly.

Mmmm. Strange. Did the shape have an opening? Could it be you were looking at her so and so?

I definitley wasn't! The bulg was more infront, by the chest.
And yes she does have a lyratail.

Could it be the world famous balloon chest fin? Kidding. I have no idea. Perhaps a flap of skin from an injury? I hope it doesn't come back, whatever it was. There are also fish fleas who are transparent and circular in shape, so not likely. But it could be a shape inside the flea that you saw? Anyway, good job it's gone. Hopefully, never to return.

Whatever this was, is actually as, its there again, is not on the outside of the molly but is iternal. I thought that maybe it came cause she was ready to give birth, but now i'm not so sure as I dunno if there's a diff it being a normal ballon molly belly ora preg belly ??? ???. I'm begenig to think i'm going to give up this case as hopless! :

Mmmm. If she is behaving normally, then I guess it would be a very wild leap to treat for internal parasites. Triangular shaped internal parasite... No idea. Shame it's back. Could it be her gravid spot? You know, the black spot before they give birth. Personally never saw one, but I hear of it all the time. I've been on so many threads I don't even know if we've asked you this already.

No, its no where near there...And no she's not acting strange in any manner, that's why I say perhaps it has something to do with pregnancy(not that I know much about it).Oh well, i've taken her out of the breeder...

Am really one for letting lady fish give birth in the main tank and give the fry plenty of cover, so am with you on that one. + indeed you never know, she may not be pregnant at all.
