75 Gallon Tank Balancing tool not on HOB 110 filter

MY filter started right up after my water change, but while juggling my filter a bit the balancing tool dropped out. Will running it the way it is for a week or so cause any stress on the filter?

 

This is a new one for me. I am not sure what a balancing tool is. What kind (brand) of filter is it? I might be able to look it up and see if it will hurt anything for it not to be in place.

awww thanks Matt. I can do that..never thought of it. It is a small plastic piece that levels the HOB. Mine is now not level but seems to be working fine. I will do more reseach, and will post here for others.

 

I think I know what you are talking about now. It is that little thing on the bottom outside of the filter that sits against the glass to keep the filter level. If that is the case I would try to put something there to keep the filter level or even slightly leaning forward. It shouldn't hurt the filter but if the filter is leaning back you may wake up to water outside the tank. If the filter overflows for any reason, instead of the water going in the tank through the over flow it could start overflowing onto your floor.

 

Shim it.

 

I've lost this plenty of times it'll work fine til you get a new one.

Get a piece of cardboard and fold it over a couple of times to make a shim.

This will prop it up away from the glass and keep it level.

One of my AC's i have to do that for.

 

Thanks all for your help. I have folded cardboard behind it to help. Sunday is water change day so will get it fixed properly then. I never even thought of the overflow problem...yikes.
