Bad algae problem and need help asap!!!

Hello all!
I have a terrible algae problem in my 75 gallon tank. It started about 2 months ago. I cleaned out my tank and went out of town for a week and when I came back my tank was covered in blue-green algae? I did some research on what type it was and that is the exact same kind I have in my tank. It covered all my plants in my tank and I took them all out. It made a nasty carpet over my sand substrate and I broke must of it up and got a lot of it out. Ive benn doing a water change everyday for about a week now (the last one I did was yesterday). My water was pretty clear yesterday and everything and then when I got home today my tank is just really murky green and I don't know what to do anymore. Can yall please help me get rid of this? my lighting in my tank is T5 HO lighting. Please help me!

 

Is the water like pea soup? If so, try doing a water change and do tank blackout for a couple of days. Free floating algae can be difficult to control.

Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought the OP dealt with the cynobacteria and now has a free floating algae problem? Just clarifying...

 

IDK what it is! like it was blue green algae and I cleaned almost all I could get with my hands and now out of no where my water is turning green and I just don't know what to do! but I'm going to read that thread and see if I can pick up some tips! Thanks for the help guys! I really appreciate it!

 

How many hours are your lights on? What is the color temperature? What are your current water parameters?

When I dealt with euglaena, it took over 2 months to completely remove. This is one of the most persistent forms of algae. Large water changes will not help as it reproduces for too quickly.

Follow the link about algae in my signature and it will give you some ideas on how to gain control over your tank again.
