Back from our little vacation!

My boyfriend had 2 weeks off, so we tried to make the best of it. In the first week we went up to his brother's place in North Bay for a weekend of camping and touring around the city.

The next week we had reservations (made way back in feb.) for a campsite in Sandbanks on lake Ontario. One of my favourite places! It was so much fun! We brought our 11 month old Dachshund, Finnigan along for his first beach experience! He LOVED it! We had to stay on the dog section of the beach but it was beautiful. You can walk out into the water forever and it won't get deep. Perfect for a little guy with short legs! But he can swim! I actually had to carry him out of the water a couple of times because he wanted to stay in it all day! And he loved playing with the other dogs, kids, and balls on the beach. We also went kayaking (Finnigan didn't come) and that was a lot of fun!

I am making a Mixbook of our little vacation, so I thought you all may enjoy a few cute pics of our time. As you may see, Finnigan is often wrapped in blankets when it is not warm as he gets cold easily (really short hair). He also had a pair of "pjs" (to my bfs chagrin lol) as well as a few other shirts lol. And as you can see, he loved to sunbathe - on our beach towels
Hey, I don't have kids. lol

Anyway, here are some pics. Enjoy

I'm having great difficulty not peeing my pants looking at that poor dachshund with a bandana on his head..... looks like an old Polish granny who should be in the kitchen making pierogies....

Your trip sounds delightful and I'm extremely green with envy. Lucky for me, green is my favorite color and I look pretty darn good in it.

Loved the pictures and so glad you had a good time.
My dachshund rolls is the sand or dirt the same way! Isn't that funny. I just can't imagine him letting my put a bandana on his head though

LOL Oh Lynda, you are hilarious. It is SO true! I nearly peed my pants laughing when I first put it on his head. He went running around and a bunch of other people on the beach got a good laugh too. My poor dog lol.

Yes, isn't cute! Does yours try to roll other, umm, gross things as well? lol Mine does and I'm constantly dragging him away from the grossness. lol
Because of were we live, Ottawa, and because I got him in december, he has been dressed in clothes since he was a little pup. He needed coats and sweaters to out in the winter in the snow. He couldn't tolerate it otherwise! So he's very good at wearing clothes, and is used to us laughing at his expense lol

THank you both for the nice comments!

Oh yes the grosser (is that a word) the better.

He is 9 yrs old and gets cold easily so I bought him a snuggli(sp?) last winter and he hung his head the whole time it was on him. I tried it several different times and he wore it without fussing but he looked so embarrassed.
It gets cool here and snows some but over all it's not really bad. When it's cold he runs out does his business and runs back in LOL

Yeah, Finnigan rolls in the nastiest stuff all the time. I try to prevent it, but sometimes he's sneaky.
When the the weather turns really cold, he takes much less time doing his business and sometimes cries to come in before he has even done anything - which leads to accidents. So we bundle him up like a little kid. This year we will need to get his boots so his pads don't freeze. He may now like that so much

Ok, so I still don't quite understand the reasoning behind the pierogie bandanna thing..... my doxie has been giving me the evil eye since I showed him the picture....

What great pictures! Looks like you had an awesome time.

The last pics are too cute! Finnigan looks all tuckered out.

I don't know about anyone else but I'd be sure to wear flip flops on that beach.

Lol the bandana was just to see how ridiculous he would look. And to get a laugh. I think it worked lol

Thanks Lucy! We had a great time
