Baby Guppies

HI all,
I am wondering how old my baby guppies should be before I introduce a filter to the tank? I currently have air stones in their tanks. My oldest babies were born in December 2015 and are about an inch in length atm... My April 2016 babies are about 1cm long and May 2016 babies, 3 days old are tiny. I am doing 30% water changes every week and full water changes once a month atm. Here is a photo of the April babies tank..

Just not sure if I should have filters in the tanks yet or not.. Because I read that baby fish give off a odor or something so as to be the biggest and best baby and it affects the other babies and makes them runts?

My son has a guppy tank that I've setup for him and they have bread like crazy lol, got 3 really big ones maybe 2-3cms swimming around and I noticed yesterday there is about 8 new ones that have arrived that are really small.

The tank has a filter installed and I've had no problems, the babies that have survived have been eaten by the big ones (parents) but seeing as I don't have another tank to put them in it dies bother me, if some survive if not then doesn't matter.

But like I said he has a internal filter in his tank and they haven't had any issues.

But don't think a filter would determine if they are runts or not, but maybe someone with more experience can chime in not

You should always filter your water. It's especially important with young fish as they can be more sensitive to poor water conditions.
