Are talking about actual betta fry or the juveniles they sell at Petcos? If it’s the juvenile when I purchased mine a few years ago I believe I kept my temp at 80F, the juveniles don’t require to much care that is different than the adults.

I believe fry are typically keep in a tank that’s set at 80-82F as well, but with it being seran wrapped for the humidity.

Yes I am thinking of attempting another Petco baby betta, I have two I have raised and I kept them at about 80...however the last two I got did not thrive...they were really small compared to the first two...and got me thinking about temperature.

The pet-store bettas in particular are overbred, so it isn’t to surprise if yours didn’t last long with proper care. Not to mention the fact these juveniles are likely to be the runts of the batches. Although, it seems betta splendens in general are now less healthy and life-span generally shorter, which is likely the affects of all this breeding. Why I’m going to try wild bettas for the next bettas I purchase.

In my limited experience, 77 is the lowest. My younger Bettae tend to behave in a lethargic manner. Over 82 they become a bit hyper active which from some forums decreases their life span. But I have no evidence to back the higher temperature limit.
