Baby Betta- Ripping Fins/holes In Fin

About a month ago I picked up a scrawny, way too young, baby betta from petco.

Well, this little fish has grown like a weed, but last Monday I noticed it had a hole in its fin. I thought it got snagged on something, but it hasn't healed up yet. Today I noticed that the outmost edge of its tail is ripping and two more holes have started to form.

Water param:
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 5ppm
pH: 6.6
Kh-0 (am fixing this)
Gh- 4

30% water changes are done 2x a week since this is a 2gal tank. Other tank mates are two ghost shrimp and a ramshorn snail.

I didn't notice anything that looks like scabbing so I'm not sure that it's fin rot. No change in attitude, behavior or appetite but since it seems to be getting worse, I don't know what to do.

Firstly, amazing job being a betta parent. What do you have in your tank in terms of decorations? Do you have a heater in your tank? What’s the current temperature? I don’t think it’s fin rot. Could you post a pic of the entire tank? Thanks.

Oops! Yes now I do! What is your filter?

Thanks! It's work but it's so rewarding! In the tank is a piece of driftwood, some cholla wood, plants and some rocks. The rocks do have a few jagged areas but I don't know how it could pierce it's fin.

I don't know what type of filter it is but it was included in the tank kit from petsmart. Filter intake tube is behind the divider, which I like since it's hard for any fins to get sucked in. I keep one of the cartridges in it as well as a separate piece of polyfill so that all my bb isn't in only one spot and so thst I can replace filter media as needed.

The tank has been set up for almost a year now, but after moving the previous inhabitants to a bigger tank, I decided to get a betta for this one.

Pardon the dirty sand tho. Today is cleaning day.

Also temp usually holds steady around 77 so I don't keep a heater in it.

Ok. Could you try taking out the rocks, cholla wood and driftwood? I think that these three elements of your aquarium are the cause of your problems. Baby betta fins are soooo fragile. All it takes is a tiny rough edge and then the fin is ripped. Could you try sanding down he rocks , cholla wood and driftwood till there are no more rough edges. As for the current damage, it’ll heal with just a little time. Keep an eye on her though and make sure the fins don’t rip further.
Ps. Your right about not needing the heater.
Pps. This setup looks astounding! Nice job.

Okay I was looking a little closer at baby blue (or is it purple?) And noticed some scale damage near it's right eye. It looks like two scales are lifting up like they're close to being broken off. I tried to get as close of pictures as I could but my cell doesn't take the greatest pictures.

I still think you are OK. Just make sure to remove sharp edges from wood and rocks.

Thanks! I will check it all for spots that could be doing it. This little fish has been growing so quickly. It was so scrawny and had just the smallest fins. hopefully I'll fix it and the fins can heal as they grow
