Babies, Babies, and more Babies....

We now have fry running out of our ears. Right now, we have about 25 Mickey Mouse Platy fry that we just put in the tank with our guppies. They're about 2 months old. Then we have about 15 more mickey mouse platy and 15 peppermint platy fry that we born about 2 weeks ago. Then Last night, I had a peppermint platy give birth to over 40 fry and a guppy that gave birth to about 26. So, lets see, that's approx. 96 to 100 fry that we have, and I still have another guppy that should drop any day now. It seems like it took forever for our fish to start having fry, as we've had them for about 4 or 5 months. Now, though, seems like they are dropping like "fry". LOL. I love tending to the babies, and watching them swim, and counting them multiple times a day (OCD kicking in). LOL. The first batch of mickey mouse fry should be ready to trade into my LFS in about another month or 2. They are growing up so fast. :'( LOL

Well, we trade them in to our LFS. Lucky for me, my aunt owns it, and she said that any fry we have, she will give us a store credit for so that we can buy supplies for our tanks, new tanks, or new fish. We're planning on getting another 55 gallon to use as a grow out tank. I was looking at the 55 gallon I have right now, and was thinking, it would be so pretty watching all these little fish swim around in it. Of course, I wouldn't put them in there until they were about an inch long. I would use the one I've got now, but I think my emperor tetras and skirted tetras are fin nippers. That's the reason I had to move my guppies into a 20 gallon.

wow ! that's a lot of fry! i've had my guppies a few months now and there's a lack of fry so there's hope yet then!!! i'd buy some off you if I lived there. can't find any healthy platties around here! also wish our lfs would take fry for store credit. not sure if ours would do that. worth asking though! handy having an aunt own it. i'd love to own an lfs. my house is starting to resemble one though!!!!

One of our female swords has been dropping fry for about 9 months now.....And before that it there were more.....We've already donated over 25 to the LFS...And I've got 6 more in the tank now.....We donated the male nearly a year ago...And she just keeps popping them out....Great little color variations too....Marigold, Green, Red Wag....Daddy was a Mexican Green and Mommy is a Marigold.... When they get large enough we donate them to the LFS...They don't give a credit, but I'd rather they go where they have a chance than to be overcrowded in my tank.
