Babies And Vacation

I have a couple baby goldfish that I'm worried about while I go on vacation. I've had them out of the big pond for 2 months, they are this year's spawn. I will be gone 5 days and don't really have anyone to help whole I'm gone. They are in a tank with hyacinth, dwarf Lilly, and something else I can't recall what it is. Will they be ok? Any advice? Should I put in a small piece of gel feeder block? I'm worried about the water parameters in general.

They should be fine for five days; you can put in a feeder block if you want. Fish don't need any energy in order to maintain their body temperature or stay upright, so they can go for a while without food, especially since there seems to be sources of plant matter in their tank.

If you're worried about water parameters, you can do a water change before and after your vacation.

I think I will put a small part of a feeder. I just worry since they are only a few months old. I will do water change right before I leave and as soon as I get back. Just making sure some aquarium experts think they'll be ok!

When you do the water change make sure you do it about 3 days before you leave. This way if there is a problem that occurs you have three days to fix that problem before leaving for vacation. I wouldn't feed for the 3 days so that way it reduces waste. When you leave you can put the feeder block in there or you can feed them before you leave and leave them alone for the next 5 days w/o food, which they should be ok with.

I have a pond with baby goldfish in and I never feed them, they live off of plants matter algae insects ect. I would definitely not worry about them, and enjoy your vacation!!!
