Get a 29 gallon tank and another axolotl for company. The frog will need to be separated. midna, any ideas here? Make sure the tank's temperature is below 20 degrees celsius.

I found this website very useful when I kept axolotls: caudata

Be sure to read up o the nitrogen cycle!

They so not do well together. African clawed frogs and axolotls are both very near sighted and will bite anything that gets near, and the gills of an axolotl are very fragile and look very appealing to the frog. In addition, axolotls need water temperatures under 68 degrees, and the clawed frogs like their water a bit warmer than that.

thanks for the tag, Discus-Tang. i'm not super well-versed in acfs but I agree that they aren't suited to live in a tank together. acfs need a much higher temperature of around 78 degrees fahrenheit, so you'll need a heater, while the axolotl might need a chiller, depending on your room temperature.

they're best kept in groups (3 or more is ideal) and get big, so a tank of 40 gallon is a minimum. house them in a species-only tank or with fish that are bigger than what they can fit in their mouths, because they can get aggressive, and don't overstock.

how big is the frog right now, and do you know how old it is, and if it's male or female? how big is the tank? thanks for taking them in. remember you can always try to rehome them (to a good home) if it isn't going to work for you.
