I don’t find these hilarious.
Basically, this forum does allow fun, it’s great.
But, we really should be helping as many people as we can, that’s why I joined this forum, not to post my own pictures or talk about my tanks, I signed up to volunteer as a betta helper on this website two years ago.

With all due respect, this is only going to crowd to forum, make it messy, and decline the proper usage for new members to find the help they need.

Forgive me if I sound rude, because I am not trying to be.
I don’t want to look like a crotchety old grump that ruins all the fun.

Sorry AJE but I agree with Fanatic. I feel like Fishlore is kind of losing the "Fish" part.

See, this is what I was referring to.
I want to help people, and playing excessive games, or replying to off topic threads can make others look at us differently, and get the wrong idea.

Like Lucy once said, we can play games here, but certain ones aren’t necessary.

This thread certainly is interesting. But in saying, I enjoy a good iced tea (or alcoholic, vodka straight from the bottle.)

I don’t find these hilarious.

Everyone views boards differently. Some join to ask for help, others want to help others. Yet others again, want to get to know each other.
If something not to you line, simple. Dont comment, and find another board to taste. AJE wants to have fun, which I support - as long as it fits forum criteria. If mods staff don't like, they can move threads to boards that fit better, or stop all postings. But IMHO, you shouldn't really tell others how to use boards- to suit your ideas. Its not your - or my - place to do so.

Edit: in saying all that, maybe it would be worth setting up a separate sub forum for 'fun and games' for threads such as these?

Haha, all good. Its a little hard to count at times, since there's babies and such. In saying all that, if I had to make a guess it would probably be around the 50 - 100 mark. I had more at one time, but had a large die off last year - dunno why - so the population been growing ever since. I'm hoping to add some new genetic material in the future to see if it helps - they probably severely inbred.

What do you specialize in? (on Fishlore) How many tanks do you have? What's in them? How many gallons?

IDK really, hopefully its a mix. I tend to reply to topics I'm interested in. I enjoy looking in the stocking suggestions, invert (shrimp, snail and crabs) area and enjoy goldies, SA cichlids, tetras and loaches....

Also enjoy breeding topics, and journals as well.

Love plants, so probably that...

(I'd honestly like to hear anyone else's thoughts on the matter!)

How many tanks do you have?

I assume you mean aquariums? Currently have 2, but also have a (very long term) temporary hermit crab tote system and a pond with some fancy goldies.

What's in them? How many gallons?

I'll stick to a fish/invert based list... Some may not find these lists ideal, but its been working for me - and my fish - and everyone is outgoing and in most cases, show signs of spawning...

64g
- pair of angels
- pair of bolivian rams (starting to think not a pair... but meh)
- breeding reverse trio of common BN pleco and some fry zI can't catch! (2 males, 1 female)
- around 20 kuhlies (around 10 striped, 3 blacks and around 6 silvers)
- 3 bronze cories
- 6 pencilfish
- 3 SAE (very much an impulse buy, but I love em!)
- 4 rummies (no one in my area wants them, so here to stay.... had a school of 20, they died off slowly, tried to replace numbers and the newbies die in a couple of months... so given up on the idea)
- MTS

25g
- around 16 embers... could be more, dunno
- 1 micro rasbora - had a school of 40, but over time developed a fungal like infection that was resistant to everything I threw at it... so gave up and euthanized around half the stock, the rest died of the 'killer fungus'.... lovely fish, too scared to keep again
- 5 (pure strain) albino koi guppies (new additions, hopefully they go well... 2 males, 3 females... any fry will be sold, or fed to other fish)
- 2 habrosus cories... (seems to not be sold in mel anymore, haven't gone to a place that sells them or currently in stock... so given up at this point!)
- 1 farowella sp. (Believe it to be F. acus)
- shrimp (mostly low grade red cherries)
- Aussie freshwater crabs

Around 90g pond...
This is my killer, currently overstocked, but still doing ok with large scale waterchanges - but in saying all that, waterquality has never been bad ironically! Hoping in the near future to upgrade this to a larger pond, roughly double in size!
- 6 large goldies (2 inch plus) (2 red/white fantails, 1 orange telescope eye (very much a pitty purchase!), 1 orange shortail ryukin (was a large goldie, for $10... had to have him!) and recently two new additions, a calico fantail and a red and white deep bodied shortail ryukin)
- 10 fry from last year that I need to catch (under 2 inch)

My tote system crabitat (think its around 50 gallon or so... dunno)
- 6-8 land hermit crabs (haven't seen a few for a while, but 1 is a very active digger so who knows?)

I agree. The new interview board is nice, but I feel like it should only be used to ask people you look up to some serious questions about fishkeeping, or maybe other hobbies. When you start asking everyone random questions it kinda ruins the whole point.

Favorite food? Restaurant? Favorite place? Place you wish you could go?
Hmmm. The hard questions

Fav food - chocolate (can never say no to chocolate)
Restaurant - I don't really have one tbh, but enjoy anything with a good menu (especially if it caters to vegan/vegetarian!)
Fav place - have a few, but really liked Hamilton Island!
Place to go - have a few, but broadly speaking, one from each of the (main) continents....

Asia - Japan (would love to go! So expensive though)
Europe - Germany
Africa - Madagascar (does it count?)
Americas - mainland US (Canada and Alaska is pretty, but too cold for me... also want to go and do the basic things, Chipotle for one, but Starbucks - Melbourne have a few, but all in CBD - is also interesting...)

If I had to choose one, would be down to go to either Japan or Germany in a heartbeat!

‘General discussion,’ the point of these is to get to know them individual members I think the best way to do so is by asking silly questions

Hmm. That's kinda hard to say. I going to throw one out - pitch perfect? Idk, I liked the hunger games series, Deadpool - was gold... I like mostly Comedy, but happy with anything.

Edit: change it to Disney/PIXAR, I love my child cartoons! (Use younger cousins as a good excuse to watch them.... Fav probs was Finding Nemo or Frozen.

The Eureka?
Yeah. Not really afraid of heights, so wasn't that scary for me...

I don't. One of my family members are allergic to some seafood dishes- and one of those are shrimp/crustaceans - so I don't eat em. Not to mention, when I do eat them I feel sick/nauseated...

Most likely it would be music. I love music, and back in the day use to play violin- it is infact on my wishlist to get one.... one day. Preferably an electric, so I can play it all hours of the night without disruptions.

Pretty much anything else will revolve around pets/animals/nature in some variation. I like the outdoors, and photography.... but I like nature photography so it doesn't really count.

(In my free time, I do like to binge watch anime or watch movies. I enjoy anything disney, comical or chickflick - and not apposed to actions/sci-fi... I'm pretty easy to please tbh!)

Haha, I mean this in the best way possible... but how on earth do you come up with these - random - questions? Last time I throw a boomerang was probably like 10 years ago... which was probably around the last time I showed up to a PE class and didn't ditch it - mostly kidding!

As for kangas. They not really my thing, I much prefer internet trolls.

Haha, yeah. I'm not fanatical about music like some, but I tend to be rather selective and have a small select taste to choose from. Anything with a good beat, I'm sold.

I like hair... haha, I tend to like the creative side of most things... even though I suck at it.

Other then cutting - and dying - my own hair, I don't really do much else. My hairdresser - which I go to for a yearly event in order to fix my split ends... since if I do it, I'll end up with no hair at all - did suggest me going to school to become a hairdresser and mentor me. But it ain't my calling in life, and would much prefer being in a lab - or doing fieldwork - and declined the invite! In saying that, I love seeing people having fun with their hair; and particularly like the whole dying process.

I have looked at your hair pictures, such interesting colors and styles though
Hair is always a great second hobby, even on yourself. I have always wanted to dye my hair, that'll never happen.

Here's your next question!
Why did you come to own your hermit crabs?

Hair is always a great second hobby, even on yourself. I have always wanted to dye my hair, that'll never happen.

Here's your next question!
Why did you come to own your hermit crabs?

My hair style hasn't really changed in the last couple of years. I like how it works, its both long and short and great for aussie weather - its cold, grow out the sides and keep the hair down... hot, shave it off and tie up the top (and helps reduce sunburn)!
Dye is fun, and do encourage all to try it, particularly if you're not feeling happy with oneself. Sometimes a slightly different shade is all that's needed to trick the brain into a bit of 'self care'... which has worked for me on numerous occasions.
My advice, start out small, and go a shade (or two, nothing drastic) darker or lighter... see how you like it before committing to something like black (which is PITA to maintain!), blonde, red, brown or some wachy colour (which is just as bad as black!)

But what I want to do is get some synthetic dreads going. The only thing that's stopping me is my job - hair code is according to management, so on one person it may be fine and on another its not... plus I have to wear a hat - and the fact that they are expensive! Maybe one day in the future...

I've honestly had that question more than once! Rather funny. Always liked aquatic animals, and was a total fish geek. As a child, local store got hermit crabs. I've always like weird animals, and loved collecting shells as a kid - and still do to a degree - and found it amazing how they carry their shells on their back. Fast forward, I wanted an animal that was easy to care for, unique and very low maintenance. That's when I rediscovered crabs, and fell in love. Researched their care for - two - years, before getting my first gang in Feb, 22nd 2012. Still remember that day, was one of the most exciting days of my life!
