At What Size Can Molly Breed ?

I have two baby mollies that are currently 3 cm long. (I raised them from birth they are the sole Survivor of that batch) and the baby male started chasing the female and trying to mate with her. he even chased my adults molly around (he seems to find my sailfin male specially sexy since he chases him the most)

and now I noticed the baby female looking at the adult breeding and trying to imitate the male and going up to the adult female. but well.. she is a female

his behavior surprised me seeing he is this small.. is this normal?? or he just really ****

and so the **** baby went back to the 10 gallon. away from his sister and the other adults.

It is not really the size but rather how old , many guppies can be stunted and be an inch or less long and yet be pregnant. Usually if raised at the best capability they can reproduce at least when they are a 1.5 months.

my 'babies' are 4 months old! so that would explain it. also since they are part of the first fry I took care of.. maybe I slowed down their growth. (had platy fry almost at the same time) all those I managed to find in my aquarium I rescued. they were born weeks between each other so they are all about the same age.

Its not a size but just how they develop. When they reach sexual maturity they'll be ready to go, which is pretty much as soon as the boys start developing which is around 3 months

okai, that makes sense. but its just looking at them so tiny.. I have a hard time imagining them being 'ready' yet. and since these are my first fry I was surprised it happened so fast.
