Assorted Anubias Health

I just recently bought my first live plants from Petco the other day. They were labeled as "assorted anubias" and I'm just wondering if/why two of my smaller plants look a little shriveled compared to the big one I bought. As you can see in the pics, one I have attached to an ornament and the other is buried in the sand. Please help! My plan is to slowly transition my set up to all live plants but I want to make sure I have all my bases covered before adding more. Thank you!

I wouldnt completely bury the anubias because of their rhizome

How do you know if it has a dead risome?

You would know if the rhizome were dead.

But I'm confused. I don't see shriveling on the anubias in your photos. I have the same species glued to driftwood in my desktop tank and it looks basically the same as both of your photos.

If you mean the wiggle on the edge of the leaf, that is normal. A lot of cryts do it and some Anubis. If the risome was dead, if would be rotten and the leaves would fall off. I dought that is the case

Some Anubias are just normally like that. But it could mean Calcium or Magnesium deficiency. Are you using RO water or is your water soft?
