I have a big snail problem in my planted 20 long and I don't really want to use chemicals to get rid of them. Could I use one or two assassin snails? What are you experiences with these guys?

I got 3 for my 100 gallon tank and the pest snails are gone, You won't notice the dent they put into the pest snail population at first, but after a while you will notice empty shells and lack of pests. Assassin snails will breed on you 2, the good thing is I get $2 a piece for my access assassin snails.

If I buy 1 I shouldn't have a problem with breeding right?

Not a problem, it takes 2 assassins to breed, unlike some of the pest snails that can reproduce asexually. Assassin snails are also slower reproducing.

I got overrun with pest snails, so I went on to add 2 assassin snails; I started seeing empty shells quite soon, but it seemed to me they were multiplying faster than they were being eaten, so.... I added 6 more. There is a visible improvement, and they haven't been there for even a month. True though - aquarium is full of assasin snail eggs, but I don't mind. A few extra euros for me when I sell them.
