is ash wood a good wood for a tank getting ready to do some tree pruning and i see a couple likely cadidate for my tank, yes i know it needs to weather a year or 2

You could boil it and let it soak in a bucket for a week or so,check the water from the bucket after it sits and see what the paramaters are.
If it did not alter water condition then you could probably throw it in the tank at that point.
