HI friends,
Today I bought a 10 inch Arowana Home, he is alone in a 500 litres tank. Temperature is around 74 to 77, but the shop guy asked me to increase it to 86, should I do that ? And the Fish doesn’t seem to like the water flow from the filter, he is avoiding that area. Iam having pebbles substrate and some rocks and no plants. Are these alright for a Arowana tank? Shop guy asked me not to feed him today, tomorrow morning he asked me to feed him dried Shrimps. So I bought one tin of dried Shrimps Please suggest me this is my first normal tank, the other one I have is a planted Aquarium, which Iam very familiar with. Please help, thanks a lot.

I don't know much about arowana's but I do know they will need a bigger tank. you will need at least 900 liters to hold a arowana.

King of diy on YouTube has Asian arrowana. He feeds them frozen tilapia and shrimp and some sort of floating pellet.

I would go to monster fish keepers there is a whole section on Arowanas

Arowanas

People who own them have posted there so there is lots to read (an introduction to arowanas plus 650 pages of threads). You can also join and ask questions if you don't find all the answers you need.

do you want an arowana?...then read this

Arowana Jumping Stories

I understand that jumping resulted in the death of the Arowana belonging to The King of DIY.

In have read that in nature Arowanas jump out of the water to a height of up to 3 meters in order to catch invertebrates and birds to feed on. I understand that they obtain much of their food this way.

In captivity they may need to be able to jump also.

Arowanas grow from 2.5 ft to 3ft in length (depending on type) and for most people their tank size/pond requirements are impractical.
