Are those 5 day vacation feeders worth it?

I'll be away from my fish for five days next week and was wondering if they should be fine or should I get them one of those vacation feeders.

They will be fine for 5 days, in the wild many fish will eat irregularly and 5 days is probably a usual week for many species!
Vacation blocks tend to pollute the water and serve no real purpose for food, as the food size is typically too fine to keep most fish happy/healthy.
A simple feed before you go is all that you need, and try not to overfeed as uneaten food can pollute the water

For any absense of less than 10 days any feeding (be it by machine or people) is unnecessary. And in case of a longer absense it's always best to ask someone and prepare the portions. Pill sliders are gread for this.

5 days is fine for most fish! My fish was fine after 8 days when I went on vacation!

Freshwater tanks can easily go for a week without feeding. However, if you have a trusted neighbor, you can have them check in a couple of times while you are gone to make sure everything is OK.

You could try to get a timed feeder, that what I plan on using when my family and I goto naples for a 5 day thanksgiving vacation. Good thing I live near Naples.
