Are these aquarium safe rocks?

zwinch

I'm trying to make an extensive rock wall in a new aquarium and to save some money I took some rocks from a local stream. I just want something that won't wreck the tank, but what kind of rocks are these? I assume something boring. Any ideas?

kinda looks like sandstone, i would say its safe, if you found in a local creeks it probebly doesn't have any metals in it, i would say fine to use, just a good soak in hot water and maybe some bleach or vingear to kill germs.

These rocks will be fine in your aquarium. There is no reason to buy rocks from a pet store!

If you want to be sure, you can put them in a bucket and then use your pH, GH, and KH tests. See if the value changes over a few days. It won't.

I wouldn't have guessed sandstone, but after comparing it to photos I totally see it now. The area I live in is high with iron, coal and other metals. Could that possibly leach out?
