55 Gallon Tank Are these angelfish eggs?

So I have two angelfish that are bonded and periodically drop eggs. They lay them in the weirdest places, to be honest. Last time it was on the Airline, this time it looks like it was on the glass. Here is a picture, but I want to make sure these are angelfish eggs and not something else. When I reach into the tank to remove snails Gabriel (The male) attacks me like no other, not that it hurts, but they are displaying some mating behaviors like chasing every fish around the tank. Are these angelfish babies? this is only their 2nd clutch of eggs, and I am still very new to Angelfish.

They are white in color, but they are also wiggling...so I'm not sure if they are eggs or something else, I am inclined to believe they are angelfish eggs, but because of the way they are acting, I am not sure.

They look like angel wigglers. The eggs hatched and the parents are protecting them. Sounds like they’re doing a good job. They’ll be free swimming after a while so if you want to raise them I suggest moving them to a separate tank sooner rather than later.

That being said, if you don’t know the finer details on raising angel fish better do some researching.

yeah those aren't eggs, they are wigglers already, they laid them somewhere and then after hatching blew them into a pile on the plant to move them. Not sure if that's all that survived from the spawn or they are in the process of moving them still when the picture was taken.

I mean it could be some other fishes wigglers from eggs, they all look alike when newly hatched. but it's likely the angels.

Rule of thumb if the angels are hammering you when you put your hand in the tank, it's a safe bet they have a spawn in there somewhere around where they are hanging out at.

if you don't have the tank on a sponge filter, they are likely going to get sucked into the filter once they are free swimming. they take weeks to get coordinated and strong enough to avoid a stronger filters suction than a simple sponge filter.

They will need to be fed within that first 24 hours of free swimming, that's when there will be some that are taking off from the pile and the parents are getting tired of putting them back. They should all be eating by hour 24-48 after the first ones are taking off and trying to swim around on their own and the parents will chase them and put them back. when they are starting this free swimming, it's when they are about done with their yolk sack and will need food and honestly, like 4x a day, even 6x a day if you can, you don't want them starving.

I've had luck with Hikari First Bites, also using flake food, ground through a 50 micron screen to a powder, then adding tank water to it and mixing it and squirting it with a syringe without a needle onto the free swimmers so it swirls around a bit before settling, it can trigger the chase response and get them to eat, they won't just come to the top to get the food and it will float if you don't saturate it first.

People use newly hatched baby brine shrimp also, which they will eat no doubt about it.

Best of luck to you! Congrats free fishies!

Will the parents end up eating them if I don't remove them from the tank? I would have to set up a new tank as well for them with a sponge filter, I don't really have anywhere or anyone willing to take babies either...so there is that too.

Depends on the spawn condition and length of time. I'd say yes the parent will eventually eat them if you don't move them, maybe eat them sooner if the spawn size was small and the parents want to try again quicker they will call it a failure and scrap it to try again rather than waste the energy on it for a low count.
Or later when the fry get bigger and start picking at the parents. Then the parents will have had enough of it, won't be able to just swim away and will eat them rather than get picked to death 24/7 by the fry. That's like 2-4 weeks after free swimming.

If you don't want to deal with fry and all that aggression when they spawn, put a piece of slate and lean it up in there on a 30 degree angle against the glass or an object. something like 6 or 8 inches high x 3-4 inches wide, thickness don't matter.

My angels aways prefer it as a spawning site and lay eggs there every time. but this will give you the ability to see a spawn the moment they put it down, pull the slate and destroy the eggs and put it back so they return to normal faster and you don't have to deal with fry unless you want to.

No more surprises and finding wigglers or fry swimming around out of the blue.

I agree with Sparky Jones, I have a pair that breed non stop, if you can't get rid of the fry [I have a pet shop that will take them] than let nature take it's course or intervene and remove the eggs. it's real easy to get covered up in fry and no where to take them.

Aw little wrigglers! In my tank I have a breeding pair and a few other angels aswell as community fishes, and usually I prefer to remove the eggs after they are laid as the angels tend to be so aggressive trying to protect the eggs (understandable but so stressful for the other fish being chased and nipped all day). Once we did let the eggs get to wriggle stage, however I think because they laid them on the filter hose the babies did end up mostly getting sucked up as soon as they tried to free swim. It was very good to see the parents fanning the eggs, and also moving the eggs and wiggles with their mouths. My male is very doting father fish, I would trust him to not eat his babies. But every pair is different.
