Are Neon Tetras Good In Really Hard Water

Are they wild caught like cardinal tetras .or breed in captivity. If there bread in captivity can the live ok I a hardnes 8 do being used to it.

Also what’s this about them dying easily. I though they were hardy

They used to be really tough however over time their quality has fallen. The ones from Thailand aren't near as hardy as the ones bred in Florida. Local bred ones seem to be still pretty tough if you can find them.

Ok. The nearest place to buy fish is a pet smart. An hour away. If there not hardy there. What other scooling fish are there for a 20 gallon tall ?

That I can keep at least 10 of?

Is there anything else in the 20 tall? What's the PH?

I was just there for the first time this week and for the life of me I can't remember what fish they had. Danios are still really tough as well as most other tetras.

I probably would look over the 10 gallon stocking list, it should give you some ideas and the numbers you could have since the platies would be almost half the tank.

That'd work though your filter might not be up to it if round down to 6 you'd be fine even with a standard 20 gallon filter.
