Are my zebra danios spawning or fighting?

I have one male and four female zebra danios and the male keeps chasing the females around and it's looking quite aggressive. Is this normal with spawning or are they attacking each other? There's nine neon tetras in the tank as well and the danios don't seem to be bothering them. It's around noon rn, if this is spawning is that a normal time? I thought they spawned at night and early morning. Should I be concerned or just let them do their thing? It looks like the male is just chasing the females and almost looks like he's nipping them.

They will also do a tornado like swirl early morning, like they are all folding into eachother. Lol

They can be very aggressive when spawning and especially the big female in the pack.

This is typical Danio rerio behavior, they are complete nut jobs and very, very busy. They will scatter the eggs on plants and the substrate and males will follow behind the females dropping. However the rest of the pack will find and munch on the eggs. Any other tankmates as well.

Ok thanks so much! They've stopped chasing each other now and I don't see any eggs so I'm assuming they were eaten soon after being laid. Have a good day!

Although once, years ago we used some gravel from an established Danio rerio tank to a new setup. Within maybe 3 days there was a small school of I think 8 noticed at the top lol. And we rinsed that gravel, not as thorough as we do now.

Just goes to show how life can survive in this hobby! Lol

Wow that's crazy! Mine have spawned multiple times in a community tank and the babies have never made it.
