Are my shrimp cannibals?

I started out with 5 RCS in a 5 gallon tank with a few endlers and a couple of nerite snails. The other day I found a dead shrimp and removed it from the tank. However, I can only find 3 shrimp now. I've looked everywhere (under the driftwood, in the driftwood nooks and crannies, under the heater, and in the plants (It's not planted very heavily). It's gone. I have only been able to find 3 for the last 3 days. Could it have died an been eaten by something in the tank? It seems hard for me to believe that the endlers ate it. So, could the remaining 3 have devoured it when I was at home sleeping? Or, maybe there's a horrible monster living in my gravel (I do have a few confirmed worms, but they're not very big) that ate it.

It's the strangest thing. I'd like to get more shrimp for this tank, but if I have a shrimp eating monster, I'd rather not.

I think all crustaceans are cannibals when you come down to it. I find it difficult to believe your RCS actually killed the missing one, but they would have eaten it if it died for some other reason.

Have you check the filter?

When Shrimps die their body becomes soft, so it could of possibly been eaten by elders, shrimps or it could of just decompose.

Good to know that they are cannibals. I don't think that they killed the missing one, but someone must have eaten it because it was there when I left work and the next morning all traces of it were gone.

I did check the filter. I suppose if the endlers and the shrimp were chowing on it all night it could have disappeared. I just thought it would take longer for that to happen. Crazy nature!

Can't be the elders eating the shrimp - their dentures are still on order.

Well, I feel stupid! I found the missing 4th shrimp so I guess the "elders" didn't gnaw on him. From now on, if there is no body, I'm going to go with the assumption that they're hiding. I didn't realize my tank had such good hiding places.
