55 Gallon Tank Are kuhli loaches good tank mates?

So recently a lot of my ghost shrimp and fish have been dying. The reason I’m concerned is every time I find a body, my kuhli loach is on the body, Either curled around it or laying on it. Most recently one of my female platies died, and it was pregnant, I’m saying this because when I found it, it’s ribs had been ripped out of its body and my kuhli loach was doing what looked like eating it. Is my kuhli loach actually eating them or am I doing something wrong? I feed them everyday, I have a filter, I have a heater, I have both fake and real plants, I checked the ammonia and the nitrite levels and they look good too. If you need to know the other tank mates I have in there are 5 Mickey Mouse platies (not including the dead one), 8 kuhli loaches, 4 ghost shrimp (not including the dead 4), 4 long finned leopard danios, and 3 pearl danios. Did I choose the wrong combination of tank mates? I am new at keeping fish, so I just want to be sure to keep things like this from happening. As I was taking photos another shrimp died this time a kuhli loach wasn’t there.

Chances are the Kuhli Loaches are just scavenging, feeding on already dead fish.
It's doubtful the Kuhlis are picking fish off. Botia Loaches, such as YoYo's, will kill & eat Inverts, but haven't heard of Kuhlis doing that.

Kuhlis are scavengers so the fish and shrimp were probably already dead and they wanted a snack.
Also, how big is your tank?

They are peaceful tank mates. they don't even bother mystery snails.

Photo of black variant. Back when I still used gravel mixed with sand. All sand for years now.

I agree, they are bottom feeders, so they eat what's on the bottom...sometimes that's dead fish. I think a lot of fish do that. If I don't catch a new death in my South American Cichlid tank right away, they can do some damage or make the fish disappear altogether pretty quickly.

The Khuli loaches are some of the most peaceful and enjoyable fish that I've kept.
