Are glass sculptures aquarium safe???

I've been searching and searching for decor I could put in my fancy goldfish tank that is beautiful to look at, smooth to the touch, and hardy enough that they can't move it. Glass sculptures are the best thing I've found. I know I have to watch for glass containing lead &/or any chemicals that could leach into the water, but are hand blown glass sculptures ever safe?? With colors and all??

Also, if glass can be safe, couldn't you technically put anything you want in your aquarium as long as it's encased is glass?? Like those glass balls with a mermaid or something inside of it for example.

yes, glasss and acrylic and epoxy is safe. as long as any paint and other items are in the glass, and not painted or glued on after the firing process.

 

If the colour is in the glass rather than on the outside it should be safe. You should check to make sure it does not scratch off.

What about glass that is completely colored, like blue or green glass

Make sure it actually is solid colour. Some cheap glassware looks like it is made of coloured glass until it starts to flake.
