Are Aqueon Led And Florescent Strips Interchangeable?

I have 5 Fish tanks of various sizes and the Aqueon Florescent Light Strips stop working after a few years, lost 4 of them in past 3 years and had to buy again. Lost 2 of them in one week just recently. These have no starters to replace that I can see unless you have to unscrew everything to get at them and I am not into wiring things back together.

So my question is if I buy a Aqueon LED light strip will it fit perfectly on a Aqueon Florescent hood of same size. As in 24" LED strip fitting onto a 24" Florescent Hood.

Or do I have to buy all new Full Hoods?

Was thinking of trying the LEDs cause I am tired of these Florescent Strips always going bad.

So any thoughts would be helpful and thanks.

Hmm, did not know typing the Word Aqueon would lead to a Filter Link

Guess no one is sure so I will call Aqueon today and see what they say. I just do not want to pay for a full new hood if all I have to do is buy the LED strip to fit onto a Fluorescent hood.

I’m wondering the same thing. Did you call Aqueon? Get an answer?

Shoot Aqueon a call or email them. They should be able to give you a definitive answer.

Forgot to reply back and yes I did call them.

They told me "They should fit the same size hoods".

Was not a definite yes, but as long as I buy one from a place easy to return them I guess it's worth a try.

I have a few aqueon led lights. They're pretty good. Last a long time. Only thing is, if you have a planted tank, they probably won't be any good. Aqueon leds aren't incredibly bright.

Ah did not know that, cause all my tanks are Planted except for the Cichlid tank. I gave up trying to put plants in the 55 Gal Cichlid tank cause they just destroy them fast.

The Fluorescent hoods lasting a long time that is definitely not my case. As I said I have gone through several hoods in just a few years. The Ballasts go bad apparently cause it's not the bulb and ordering a new ballast costs like $20 with shipping and I can buy a new full hood for $30 and get a bulb with it for a 20" hood. So it's not reasonable going through the hassle rewiring a ballast in for zero savings.

But then I saw each LED bulb is like $18-$25 and the Aqueon hoods only come with one LED yet they can hold 2 of them. So did not like that when I read it.

And if you go with a Modular LED light then you need to get the glass top for it and the costs just keep going up and up
