Aqueon Widescreen LED 13 gallon tank - Which heater?

We have the Aqueon Widescreen LED 13 gallon tank. The heater it comes with is preset at 76. It ranges usually from 76.6 - 76.8. We want to get a heater we can regulate to a warmer temperature for our new betta, but there are soooo many! I did a search on here and went through a few pages, but didn't really see anything for our size tank. It's a tall thin tank, so we want something that doesn't take up a lot of room and has the auto shut off. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Cobalt NeoTherm $$$ but worth it imho. I have one in a 16 gallon and it's easy to set desired temp and shows the temp in the tank and is very stable. It's black and slI'm but its like $50

I was going to say a Jager or Aqueon Pro (I have several) but after I picked up the Cobalt for my 16 it's just so easy and sleek

Thank you all! I'm good with spending more money for something that will do a good job!

So, I'm looking at the cobalt and have a quick question - the 50 watt says it is for up to 12 gallons. Since my tank is 13 gallons, will the 50 watt work or should I go up to a 75 watt, which is for up to 20 gallons?

I've got a 50 on my 16 and it works just fine. Depends on your temp difference room to tank. My place is at 74 degrees all day and night so it's not too much of a difference. The 50 should be more than fine, I am glad to hear you did't go the cheap route. Heaters are an important part of fish keeping, you definitely should not skimp. You really get what you pay for with the NeoTherm imo. They even give you a warranty.

If in doubt go a size up, there's no disadvantage other than possibly the price.

and if you decide to upsize your aquarium you already have a heater that can do the job

Ugh so i've been researching after a scary incident with a cheap heater and it looks like both Aqueon Pro AND Eheim Jager are supposedly either going through a manufacturer change or just a severe drop in quality. So many negative reviews on both!

I have six tanks i'm looking to upgrade so price is a bit of an issue but I do want a quality product that will be safe for my fishies. Going to keep looking.

Thank you so much everyone. I love this forum - everyone is so helpful-much needed for a newbie like me. I truly appreciate everyone!

I went ahead and ordered the 75W - I would rather be safe and have more than I need rather than not enough. And yes, I'd rather spend more money to get something good up front.

Thank you again! I'm sure I'll be back with more of my questions as I'm learning all I can.
