Aqueon water changer sprung a leak

I was re-filling my tanks aduring my water changes, and the hose sprung a leak in the form of a small hole. Luckilly all I had left to fill was the 75g, so I just covered the hole with my thumb. When I shut the flow off at the tank the hole doubled in size, and I had to run to shut off the water. The hole formed where a kink in the hose had developed, and that may have led to the rupture.

I have had this water changer for a few months now, and before now have loved using it. There have been a few other problems though. I learned pretty fast not to turn the water on full pressure. The vacuum shot off the end of the hose. It had also sprung a leak in the seal on the faucet attachment. Whenever I would shut off the flow to the tank, it would shoot out a small amount of water till I releived the pressure.

I am definitely going to buy another water changer, but most likely not an aqueon. With 6 running tanks, that water changer saved soooo much time and energy. I am not really sure if I can afford one right now though. It may be more hauling buckets for a few weeks. :'(

There are two things you could try. Firstly, the tubing that comes with water changers is 5/8" diameter. They make garden hose menders for 5/8" hose so it's worth a try. Secondly, you could replace the section of tubing that sprung a leak. No reason to buy a whole new system

Apply duct tape. Duck tape fixes everything.

If it's supposed to be connected and aint, duct tape or vise grip it

If it's supposed supposed to come apart and aint, PB Blast or torch it

Give Aqueon a call. Their number is on their website. I did this and they sent me a replacement part for what I believe was a faulty piece free of charge.

In my haste to get some sleep I didn't think about just fixing the hose. Luckilly the hole is only a couple inches from one of the connections, so I should be able to cut the hole out. I am going to try to contact aqueon to try to get a new faucet attachment. Thanks everyone!

Don't forget to keep the kinks out of the tubing.

Truth.

I keep my hose in a loose circle when I'm not using it. Maybe you should try that
