Aqueon Pro 250 For 75 Gallon Aquarium

Just purchased an Aqeon Pro 250...

Would that be sufficient for a 75 gallon tank? The tank I'd be buying comes with a marineland heater (not sure the exact model) and I'd use that as a backup in the event my heater malfunctions.

Thoughts on that heater and the siE tank I plan on using it for?

 

Hello. I use those those heater's in my 125 & 55. They do a great job & have a lifetime warranty. That heater will be fine for your 75. Having backup is a good idea.

But you have a bigger tank, right? I plan on a 75...just wondering if I should buy another or if one would be sufficient.

 

I have a 250w Pro in my 75 gallon and it was fine heating my tank 10-12°F over ambient during the winter.

 

I think this is what I wanted to hear. I may buy one to have as a spare, but I don't want to use two 250s in a 75 gallon and run the risk of all tha wattage plugged in or potentially killing my fish.

 

I guess my concern is this: I just purchased a 250W Aqueon Pro heater for my 75 gallon. I am not sure this will be sufficient so my question is this: Do I try and return the 250W for two 150s or is that not going to be necessary? My aquarium will be in my basement so it will be a bit cooler for sure.

I am thinking the 250w would be good enough and I can definitely try it in my fishless cycle to see, but winter isn't for a few months away so I won't really know until then.

Also, if I buy ANOTHER heater on top of my 250w, should I buy a smaller version to keep in my tank with it, so I'd be running a 250 and 150 maybe? Would I have to worry about that much wattage being plugged in?

I never really figured this would be an issue until I really started researching heaters and such.

 

IM sorry. I forgot you have a 75. I put 250's at each end in my 125 and I have 150's at each end in my 55. One 250 in a 75 will be just fine.

No problem I just kind of get real nervous when people start talking about putting multiple heaters in one aquarium. I know that people do it but for some reason it just makes me nervous and I'm not sure why.

 

The Aqueon Pro is a VERY reliable heater. They don't fail and boil your tank. They don't go up to 150°F to heat your tank. You can have 10 heaters in your tank if you want. They are temp controlled and turn off when they reach the set temp. The Pros have an auto-off feature if it's out of water (like during a water change). I have never unplugged my Pros while doing water changes and never had any issues.

I just got another 100w Pro for a 20g, making 4 Pros in my tanks. I have a 406 and FX4 on my 75 gallon so I have very good circulation. The heater sits right next to the FX4 intake for better heat distribution.

The Aqueon Pro heaters is possibly the best heater you can buy currently.
