aqueon 29 gallon light bulb

hI I'm looking to upgrade my lighting for my 29 gallon. I have an aqueon kit, will a 24 in. light fit my fixture? I'm thinking bout trying the zoomed flora sun.

 

A 29 gallon is generally 30 inches long. Unless the fixture has some type of extensions on it to make it fit, then it will most likely not fit the tank. Just make sure that it's the type of lighting that you do get for is what your wanting

I have a 24 inch life glo dual lamp lighting system on my 30 gallon and it works just fine (Though mine does have extensions to fit longer tanks).

 

hmm.. I measured the bulb its about 23 inches I think. I'm not good with these tube lights my ten gallon tanks had screw in bulbs. ok I checked again it is 23 inches from the two metal caps. so I'm guessing a 24 won't fit. so is the standard aqueon bulb good for plants?

 

Did you measure from the end of the metal caps or the beginning? A 24 inch bulb should fit in your fixture. I have never seen a 23 inch bulb. Depending on the wattage and what kind of wavelengths are emitted by your bulb, it may or may not be good for plants.

 

yea I measured from the ends of both caps its alittle over 23 in. I think ill take it into petco and compare them. I have a planted tank and I want the plants to grow well. the flora sun lights seem to be good for them I have anacharis, amazon sword and one other species I don't know.

 

so I went to petco...turns out it is a 24 in. light bulb. so I bought a zoomed tropic sun light. sorry for being so unknowing thanks for your help

 

Yeah the length of the bulb in a hood for a 29 gallon tank is 24 inches. Knowing this, there are a great many number of bulbs and kits for the 29 gallon tank.
