I currently have the aquatop pf40 uv. I still have the carbon pack that came with it. However, I want to remove it, rinse the ceramic bio media that I added and add more ceramic bio media. I also plan to, well still thinking of it, removing the cover on the UV sterilizer. This would help with the water flow since the flow is on low and I don't feel like I'm getting a good flow of water in there because of that cover. Aquatop acknowledges this and says more time is needed with the UV sterilizer. But I don't plan to keep it on all the time. At that point, I can play around with the flow.
My first question is, all this good bacteria is built up on the carbon filter, if I remove that will I be okay? The carbon filter is useless for me and I plan on continuing to use the Seachem Purigen. It did wonders the first round so I'm going to keep using it.
Has anyone else altered the Aquatop to make it work better in any way?
