Aquascaping Books/Website Recomendation

Do any of you know of some good aquascaping books or websites about creating natural looking planted tanks that are low maintenance and low-medium light? This will be for a 10 gallon and a divided 20g, both of which will be betta tanks. I might try a few snails as well. Right now they look absolutly horrible. I'd like to get some ideas and inspiration before I begin aquascaping. Some aquascaping plans would be nice too, with pictures showing where the plants, driftwood, etc. are placed. Thanks!!!

Has anyone read The Simple Guide To Planted Aquariums by Terry Anne Barber? Is it good?

Ive been reading the Encyclopaedia of Aquarium Plants by Peter Hiscock - excellent book with all the essential plant info and handy reference section for various plants at the back.

Also, check out the free online magazine from Aquascaping World, some extremely pro 'scapes there which regularly win or place highly at the AGA plant layout contests.

Also, can't go wrong with checking out TakeshI Amano's websites and aquairum galleriesfor inspiration. He has several books out too if you can find them (I hired one from my local aquarium club), which shows his scapes and provides all data and maintenace info, plus general hints and pro tips at the back.

Happy scaping

Oh, I also forgot to mention jsut googling the International Aquatic Plants Layout Contest - a browse over past winners and placers is just a droolworthy way to spend your time .

I'm actually about to attempt a HC (Cuban pearl grass) carpet in my zen tank with some enchinodorus tenellus accents. Probably in over my head but worth a try!

Oh snap, I added my tank to this site a while ago and forgot about it, the link reminded me to check in... gues who's rated no 10 for the month!! Woot woot!

Must bow to FishLore for getting me going on plants though

Sorry Heather - didn't mean to hijack, just really surprised! Cheers though jerI & dawnmarie.

Tropical fish hobbyist mag just had a spread on the International Aquatic Plant Layout contest, so awesome this year. I think a number of placers are also on the aquascaping world website, so i've been reading more of their e-mag, and really fantastic protips there. Also, planted tank and Tom Barr's Barrreport.com are wonderful wealths of info I like to lurk on for info. Good luck with new scapes!
