Aquascape Inspiration

Looking for some inspiration for an aquascape. Also included some pics of my current aquascape.

What sides are the tank viewable on... if its possible, I would hide the filter with the sword and then consider adding some wood (with something like pinto, white or stardust anubias... or Bucephlandra....) to fill out the rest of the tank.


I would also add some blyxa and give an area - like RHS - dense grassy coverage.

 

tank is only really viewable from the front.
just went on a walk and collected quite a bit of wood.

Here's what I've done so far.

covered the filter with sword and put a new bit of wood in.

still got a load of wood soaking.

 

I’d add a little more wood on the left side (without the plants). Beautiful tank! I really like it.

 

Its looking great. Is it possible to push back the sword a bit so its not so in your face?

I like it a lot, I like the openess on the LHS that if you like, to be filled with more plants! Hopefully your liking it as well.

 

Thanks. Ive got a bit more wood soaking, waiting for it to sink. That should fill out the left hand side a but more.

I can also move the filter back a bit which would allow for the sword to be moved back more.

 

Got some broad leaf chain in there as well which will eventually spread. Used to have a huge carpet of it In there but it grew out of control. Try and keep a lid on it this tme.

is it ok to leave a little bark on wood? or should it be removed?

 

Bark rots the easiest IME.
I would take off as much as possible.

 

thanks, just spent the last hour filing off bark lol.

 

Try soaking it for a bit.
I soaked a branch for 3 days and the bark came off like wet paper.

 

Does it look better with the sword on the left or both on the right.

 

I personally liked it on the rhs as it currently looks a but lop sided... if you fill out lhs with plants it may work?

 

thanks, I might go down to my lfs and buy some smaller plants to go on the left hand side. any suggestions?

 

Hmm, without really knowing what's available I'd suggest some crypts or better yet, anubias nana petite and micro javafern... buce?

I've got more wood soaking, similar to what's in the tank. do you think it needs it or would that just be overkill?

 

Hey guys! Looking for some planted nano tank inspiration for when I get my 2 gallon off the ground. Waiting on filtration to come in then it's off to the races.

I'm wanting to go with plants that aren't going to go into the substrate. Mosses, Buce, Anubias, Java Fern, etc.

You can kinda see the ceramic rings I super glued them to on that one on the left. Takes a while to fill in and hide the anchors.

Lowest light carpet you can get... also once filled in very valuable.

No, I’m using canister filter media ceramic rings. They’re supposed to go into filters anyways.
