Aquarium sealant curing time...

hello...I was wondering ...on the back of the tube it says don't distrub for 24 hours don't fill for 48..now I used it for decor....is the 48hours mostly for strength what cuase with the wait fo the water and the glass I could understand but...couldI put decor in after 24.. I just glued rocks and plants....just want to know for sure...I'm pumped to get the stuff I made into the water..lol thanks ...

by the time anyone relpys it won't matter becuaes it would be 48 hrs anyways jezzz I'm so exicited to get them in the tanks

I would say wait. The sealant has to cure completely or could leach chemical's into the water. and possible harm the fish.

The sealant needs to cure and the moisture evaporate out of it a little. Silicone seems to have a little bit of vinegar smell to me and it takes about that long for it to go away. So I say wait.

ok sounds good to me...wasn't positive...ill post pics of the stuff I made if anyone is interested...and I also fixed somting I did with hot glue that worked for a few days lol

It smells to me like concentrated vinegar being shot straight up my nostrils.
I definitely agree that it should wait. That smell is probably some sort of alcohol as a solvent. If you don't wait, that could get in the aquarium, which could be a really big problem if there are already fish in there.

I'm planing on covering the whole thing...trying to go alittle more natural looking ....that will take a lot of time though...I better finish before school starts

we got a hamster toy today for one of our bettas.. he loves it. check mickey's page on our fishblog at the bottom of the page.
