If anyone is interested there is a really cool database for aquariums by Tanks which is on sale for 9.95 instead of 24.00. Covers everything for your tanks

I did not purchase it, if that’s what you’re asking. I did read the quick description it has. I don’t quite understand it. It’s basically a graph to write down your tank maintenance/schedule, is that correct? I wouldn’t really have use for it, maybe someone really busy with multiple tanks or an unorganized fish store.

I am writing a database (with web interface) myself. It won't cover everything (just what I need, being storing measurements (with graphs), some events (adding fish to the tank, fish dying, water changes, ...)), a list of fish with some data (weblink, picture, number of days in, feeding pattern and type). I'll also have a reminder system of when to feed which type of food (since I'm quite chaotic). All this is running on a raspberry PI at the moment (which is also controlling my fish feeder, lights, ...), but you could run it on any computer running python and a webserver... As soon as it 's finished I will put it available publicly, but if you want a version sooner you could contact me for the (unfinished) code.

I'm not a (real) programmer, just a hobby-ist (I work in IT security). I have a lot of code already (running on my tank / raspberry pi) and am willing to share, but it's not documented yet. If you pm me your mailadress I'll shoot you what I already have. Once it is finished I will clean it up, document it and post it to GitHub, but I guess this won't be before somewhere in fall this year.
Most of the code I've written atm is for controlling the led (organic day/night) cycle of my 6 colors LED lighting, setting/saving lighting moods (overriding the day/night cycle for a while), reading sensor data, storing it, displaying it on a LED display, controlling relays (to switch on/off pump, heater), and controlling the fish feeder. This weekend I started working on the database with fishes, events and readings. Of those only the back-end (database structure) is fully finished, and the front-end of my Fishes page. I've been working on this after hours, so the speed of developement depends on how busy the rest of my (working/private) life is...

I'm ready to send you the code (needed to get all my passwords out and clean out the double (versioning) files). I thought I had seen your mailaddress, but can't find it anymore. Can you resend it?

One thing is I sure wish there was an easier way to figure out how to send PMs for the life of me I'm still unable to figure out how to do it

For your safety & security please do not post personal information, e mail addresses, phone numbers etc on open forum, they can be read by anyone not just members.

HI thanks for removing the mailaddress. I wanted it in PM, but we couldn't figure out how. Anyways I have sent the code he asked for (and have his address now).
Btw you do a great job moderating this forum. Great info and community in here. Thanks for all your efforts!

You need 50 posts before you can use the PM feature.
