I just set up a 29 gallon tank to use as an aquaponics planter. I bought a 70gph pump and some tubing/splitters to feed water up into my planter bins. I used PVC with some kind of plumbing fitting that raises up my drain a couple inches from the bottom of the planters so water can pool at the bottom and just overflow back into the tank. I plan to sit some filter material under the outlets from the pump to filter out solid waste before it reaches the plant media. I stuffed the top of my PVC drains with filter material, will this provide adequate filtration? There were several choices of filter material in the pet store. I selected the one that filters amonia.

I find this whole keeping fish in a tank thing very interesting.
