Would an ac110 on a 30 gallon tank be too much? Ive been thinking about potentially upgrading tank to a 75-125 gallon in the future, and bought a bigger filter in case I do. I currently use fluval u4 internal filter and the surface has oil slick, fish get trapped between back of the filter bracket and die sometimes, and when I take it out debris just goes back in the tank. I have some juvenile rainbows, zebra and giant danios along with 3 gouramis

If your gouramis can handle the flow I'd try it wide open.
What do you mean wide open? Like without the lid or set to max flow rate?

Well I got today and my fish seems to be doing okay with it set to lower flow option

Wide open as in full flow
I would put the flow in the middle for your 30 gallon, then if you upgrade to that 75 in the future you can have it open all the way

Yeah, even at max flow it isn't much more flow honestly. It's a pretty user friendly filter in that regard.
