Good morning,

I just received my first shipment from AquaCave (link above). The items were packed very well and everything arrived safely and quickly.
I received Free Shipping for my order being over $175.00.

I will use AquaCave again when the need arises.

I'm setting up my first CO2 system soon and purchased a few products from AquaCave: a regulator/solenoid/bubble counter and 10 feet of CO2 tubing.

I haven't received any other components, and thus haven't set anything up yet, so I can't review the specific items.

However, I have nothing negative to say about AquaCave. I placed my order at 12:30am on the 15th and received my package on the 16th. It was well packaged and nothing was damaged. At $4.95 I thought the shipping was very reasonable. I will definitely purchase from them again should the need arise.

For those two products and shipping was $4.95, that is a steal.

really. Only shipping better than that would be amazon.com. Good deal.

AmazonPassion you are killing me with your changes of avatar. I never read the names just recognize by the avatar and you have switched it up twice now in about a week or two. You're messing with my head lol.

LOL I thought the same thing. Though look who's talking, you changed somewhat recently too, I believe

It was the only solenoid/regulator/bubble counter combo I could find for under $100. There was one I was looking at that had a fancier guage that was more accurate, but that was the only difference and it was $150. Not worth it in my opinion, when everyone uses bubble counters and has no problems. I got a drop checker too, so that's extra insurance.

You should take pictures, step by step when you set yours up. I'm on my 2nd bottle of Excel, 4 more to go.

Isn't it great to change Avatar pictures I was thrown off when ZumI change hers, I liked her cat one.

Haha, I have double standards.

That is a pretty good deal. I am tired of fooling with excel and believe I will be buying a co2 set up soon. I like what you ordered and AP recommended a nice one in another thread where I asked for recommendations of a co2 unit so I need to decide on what to get. It takes me all morning to decide what I am eating for lunch so this will take a while...I hate decisions.

I am definitely leaning towards the Green Leaf one because of pH regulator. However, if Zumis method is cheaper, I might go with hers. That is why I've been stalker her CO2 adventure.

Yeah, I'm spot-dosing 2x strength CO2 Boost (same thing as Excel; LFS was out) every day and it's getting old haha. Plus I can't believe how quickly I've gone through the bottle. It's about $200 up front (what I paid anyway, minus filling the tank) but in the long run it has to be cheaper than liquid. Plus it's a form of carbon that is easier for the plants to use (since it's the same form they naturally use, while the carbon in Excel is from glutamarate (...or something like that) and they have to break it down to use it) so it's supposed to be more efficient and produce better results. I'm hoping to see definite improvement! Rumor has it that vals are supposed to grow like weeds, but mine are about four inches tall...

That was the cheapest regulator/solenoid I could find, and I did quite a bit of looking around. Bankruptjojo uses it and he says it works well. He posted a video of his setup; I can go get the link if you're interested. Basically I didn't want to pay a lot, being a poor college student, but I didn't want to have poor-quality products that stopped working or worked ineffectively. Hopefully I chose well!

AP: I'd love to have a pH regulator, but that's $100+ I'd rather not spend! I'll do it the manual way to save a little money.

My vals are already growing like weeds, up to the top and across the length of the tank and sending lots of runners. If I were to hold it up, it would be about 6-7 ft long. I usually trim the Vals and this is before using Excel.

Btw...love the change in Avatar.

Your whole system is going to cost you $200 Zumi?

It is nice to change avatars I just don't like when others do it LOL.

My only thing about paying extra for a PH regulator is I don't trust PH meters. I work in a research and development lab and use ph meters every day. These are very expensive oakton lab ph meters and they need to be standardized constantly. If you don't keep them standardized then you don't get accurate readings. I can't help but think the ph probe on a co2 unit would be the same way.

ill let you know how my ph probe works when I get it. ill be buying either the neptune or digital aquatics controller. next steep is dosing pumps so I don't have to dose plant ferts

AP: $110 from AquaCave, $115 from Amazon. But to get the "Super Saver Shipping" for one of the items (the drop checker) I had to buy $10 more in applicable goods, so I bought a bottle of Garlic Guard. So it was around $220 not counting that. 5 pound tank (don't have room for a 10 pound), solenoid/regulator/bubble counter, CO2 tubing (regular tubing can leak CO2; according to the AquaCave site, something like 25% for silicone tubing versus less than 1% for CO2 tubing), reactor, drop checker.

JW: Yeah, I've used similar meters in chem lab...mine said that distilled water had a pH of 3.

Now I'm going to have to change my avatar.. But m picture is so artsy-fartsy haha.

I changed back. I hate change lol.

Ph of 3 for distilled water lol. That is the Ph of like hydrochloric acid. Yeah, I just don't trust them.

Bankrupt def keep us posted on how yours works. It would be great to have if they are reliable.

on the neptune they offer a lab grade ph probe. who knows if it any better but ill let u guys know. ill be getting it in january for a new tank.

I'm not sure they have all kinds of setups. I'm either going the cheapest or the most expensive. the cheapest is at $110, the most is $500. it just depends how much money I get back this year. mainly I just want a nice power strip that could operate many devices at diff times. so I might just go with the cheaper. but the expensive one has some crazy features.

there are some videos on youtube. here they are.

EDIT!!!!... sorry ken your right. I actually started a thread about this. here is the link if anyone want to talk about it. I will updated it if I ever get one of the controllers.
